Junk Food is Out - Heathy Foods are In

With soft drinks gone, the beverage industry is trying to fill the void. The new campaign is to convince elementary and middle school students to buy bottled water.

"I Want Water!"

Will children ages 6-12 actually be demanding bottled water with soft drinks gone? Several companies are going to mount an aggressive campaign to find out the answer to this question.

Nestle, Cott, Advanced H20, AquaPod, KidsOnly, and Disney's Pixar are planning animated television ads and DC Comic ads targeting 6-12 year olds.

Superman Water

Kenneth Hein of Brandweek.com states that Kids Only is going to use Bratz, Scooby-Doo, Spider-Man, Marvel heroes and Superman to sell beverages.

Many mothers do not want sugars or artificial sweeteners consumed by their children. Will they find these products too expensive? Or, will health outweigh the cost?

School Sales

Some schools are switching to organic foods in the hot lunch program. There is a trend to eat healthier in schools. Childhood obesity is becoming a larger concern. Will students actually buy mineral and flavored water in schools if machines are available? Beverage companies think they will.

Advertising is scheduled to begin this summer and into fall. Be prepared to be splashed with "water" ads on Saturday mornings.
