Forget mugs! Here are some unique, thoughtful ways to thank the special teacher in your life.
They come in day after day and teach kids reading, writing, ‘rithmetic and much more. They are inspirational leaders in our community, yet their jobs can be thankless at times. What are some gifts you can give to thank a teacher- that don’t include mugs?
With digital technology, it has become easy to create photo albums online for teacher gifts. Have moms of the other kids in the class pitch in for the cost, as well as pitching in some digital photos for the album. Adding words from each of the kids will really personalize the gift. One great idea is creating an album page for each child with a candid or classroom photo and (in their own writing) them finishing the sentence “I thought Miss Apple was a great teacher this year because….” This album will be treasured for years to come by a teacher who will pull it out often just to feel appreciated!
Gift certificates for teachers really are an easy, practical gift- but if you are going to be collecting money for a gift certificate, make sure it is personal for the teacher. Take the time to find out what her favorite shop or restaurant is so that she will be able to enjoy the gift without going out of her way. Spa gift certificates are also a great end-of-year idea.
Teacher School Supplies
Now that it’s the end of the year, teachers are short on supplies that have become depleted over the year and unfortunately, often school systems don’t provide all the supplies teachers need for kids throughout the long year. Find a huge basket that will be a keepsake of its own, and fill it with pens, colored pencils, tape, reward stickers, paper, glue sticks, a new stapler, dry erase markers, post-it notes and any other supplies you think he/she may need for the school year that starts after what, for sure, will be a fast summer!
Celebrate the beginning of what is certainly a teacher’s favorite time of year: summer! After the stress of a long year with kids, teachers would enjoy a big beach bag filled with beach towel, flip flops, sunscreen, sunglasses, a great summer book, and a pretty sun hat that will help them think of the kids they enjoyed spending time with all year- even though they are pretty happy to be enjoying their much-deserved relaxation!
