» Lynn1969 - SATs and Achievement
The SAT I wasn't designed to measure success or "achievement." It was designed as a "standardized" measure for weighing aptitude for college level studies; and its value as an aptitude measure is questionable in the modern era--as evidenced by the new trend to give greater weight to other criteria in admissions (See Standardized Admissions Tests.)The current role and purpose of the SAT is a topic of debate amongst admissions officers. Questions of fairness, reliability, and the quantification of aptitude surrounding this test should have been indicators for Maine that this test wasn't suitable for their purposes.
